Awards for Excellence 2014

The nomination process for the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence 2014 is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a volunteer or eye care professional. The winners of the categories below will be annouced later this year.

Best clinical service

We know that a patient's experience in an eye clinic can profoundly affect how they cope with their condition. If you have experienced exceptional care from your eye health professionals, please nominate them for an award.

Doctors, nurses and orthoptists or their teams are all eligible for this award.

Best optometrist or optician of the year

This award is for optometrists or opticians working in private practice or in local societies or other community settings. If your local optician or optometrist really stands out from the crowd they may deserve on of our awards.

Support or rehabilitation professional of the year

Good rehabilitation makes the lives of people with sight loss immeasurably better, yet this branch of the eye care profession is often overlooked. Rehabilitation workers are sometimes part of council social services, others work for local societies.

Volunteer of the year

Every year thousands of people volunteer for the Society. They may help run our support groups, coach people in eccentric viewing techniques, act as befrienders or treatment buddies, or fundraise.

The Macular Society’s annual award scheme has been made possible because of the generous sponsorship of Dolphin Computer Access.
