Zetta’s 82 and was always at the centre of family life. But her world shrunk to her own home when she was diagnosed with age-related macular disease (AMD). Her sight loss has destroyed all her confidence to get out and about.
The Macular Society’s befriending service put Zetta in touch with Brenda, who’s also visually impaired, and they speak regularly.
Zetta she said: “Brenda is brilliant, I don’t have much family so my phone calls are really important to me.
“Losing your sight can make you feel lonely and isolated, but it’s great talking to someone. It’s really changed my life, it gives me something new to think about. Without a doubt I’d recommend the befriending service, it’s saved my life.”
