Macular disease can make everyday tasks challenging and many things that people without sight loss take for granted, can become a source of frustration and difficulty. Our Gadget Guides help people with macular disease adapt to living with the condition by showing them gadgets and technology that can help.
Our volunteers visit local Macular Society support groups and other awareness events to display and demonstrate a wide range of equipment such as lighting, daily living equipment that makes use of the Big, Bright and Bold principles, anti-glare filters, e-readers and tablets. These aids can help make everyday tasks easier for people with macular disease.
Our volunteers don’t sell equipment. Instead, they give people the opportunity to try different equipment and signpost them to where they can purchase it, or to where they can get further information and advice.
