Our network of over 400 macular support groups stretches across the UK. Each one offers practical and emotional support for people with macular disease, from those living with it today.

Meeting other people with macular disease can help you understand your condition, come to terms with sight loss, share information about treatment and ultimately stay independent. Every group is different but many invite guest speakers, run social events, arrange outings and holidays, fundraise, campaign and work with local eye care professionals. Our Gadget Guide volunteers also visit groups to present gadgets and technology that could help you adapt better to life with macular disease.

Around 20 of the groups (called W@M groups) are aimed specifically at younger, working-age people with macular conditions. And if attending a group in person isn’t for you, our virtual Skype groups give you the opportunity to talk to other people affected by macular disease online, without leaving home.

You can find your local group using the search tool on this page, or by calling the Advice and Information Service on 0300 3030 111.
