Over 600,000 people in the UK have age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Many of them are no longer able to read, drive or recognise faces.
We’ve made a film to explain AMD. Please share it with family and friends on social media. Although AMD is widespread, many people still don’t know about it. The more people we reach, the more we can help, and the faster we’ll find a cure. Thank you.
We help people with macular conditions cope with the emotional impact of sight loss, and we help them retain their independence. We also fund medical research to find a cure.
I was devastated, and then I spoke to someone from the counselling service. It was a really pivotal moment for me and made me feel like it was going to be OK.
You can become a member, a volunteer, fundraise for us, or donate. Whatever you do, your help will be greatly appreciated.
When I was classified as partially sighted I came to realise how much help you need. The help I received from the Macular Society is vital.
I was so grateful to the Society for contacting the hospital on my behalf.
