Text BEAT/BEATNOINFO to 70450 to donate £3 to the Macular Society (A charity registered in England and Wales 1001198, Scotland SC042015. 1123 Isle of Man).
For each text message sent, you will be charged £3 plus your standard network message charge (based on your service provider rates) via the reply confirmation text message. How donation charges are shown on your bill is subject to your network’s process.
Who can donate?
You must be aged 16 or over to send a text donation.
Please note that you can donate using this SMS service from a UK mobile only. You cannot donate using this service from a Channel Islands, Isle of Man or another non-UK mobile.
If you donate using this service from a UK mobile when you are outside England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges levied and retained by your network operator.
You must obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text message.
All donations to the Macular Society, including the donation from the text, are non-refundable. 95% of your donation goes directly to the Macular Society, 5% covers text to donate operating costs.
There is no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text but there is a daily limit (midnight to midnight) of £30 on text donations to each shortcode from the same mobile number.
Further text donations will not be accepted if you exceed this daily limit (so you will not be donating these additional amounts to the Macular Society), but you may still incur your standard network message charge.
If you would like to contribute more to the Macular Society, you can donate online (enter your chosen amount beneath the £3 suggestion).
Incorrect keywords and shortcodes
Please ensure you spell the keyword correctly and send your text message to the correct shortcode or your donation will not be received.
If your keyword and shortcode are valid, you will be charged the donation amount when you receive the confirmation message – this cost will be applied directly to your mobile phone bill. It may take some time for you to receive a confirmation message. Please wait until you receive it. Any repeat texts will result in repeat donations.
If your keyword or shortcode is invalid, you may not receive a confirmation message but you may still be charged your standard network message charge. You will not be charged the donation as you will not be donating to the Macular Society.
