Macular Society group leader and volunteer Jane Figg was the star of a popular Channel Four TV show this week as she took home the coveted trophy.

Jane, who is the leader of the Wokingham and Bracknell Macular Support Group, was crowned the champion of the iconic quiz show Fifteen to One.

Every week fifteen contestants go head to head in the show hosted by Sandi Toksvig. The show consists of three epsiodes in one week, with one round per episode. Each round contestants are knocked out and the final round sees three contestants battle it out to become the winner.

Jane, who has macular degeneration, said: "It was really good fun. Although I've always liked a quiz I don't think I would have had the confidence to do the show years ago. But, I didn't feel scared and Sandi Toksvig was amazing and put everyone at ease."

She added: "It was an interesting day and something a little bit different. I hope it gives other people confidence to do things they don't think possible. If I can do it, anyone can."

Jane has always enjoyed quizzes and sometimes organises them for her groups.

Jane, said she mentioned on air that she had macular degeneration. She said: "I wanted to get it out there and I hope it raises awareness of the disease."
