Nominations for our annual Awards for Excellence are now closed. This year, along with our usual categories, we introduced a new category - Chairman's Award for Fundraising. This will celebrate anyone who has made an outstanding contribution to fundraising and add to our existing categories of optometrist or optician of the year, best clinical service of the year and our Chairman’s award for volunteering.
We also introduced the Rising Star of the Year Award to recognise the achievements of up and coming healthcare professionals, professional carers or biomedical researchers. Nominations could be submitted by any healthcare professional, professional carer or researcher.
Our Awards for Excellence give us the chance to celebrate the excellent and inspirational work done to provide services and care for people with macular disease. The awards programme is now in its ninth year and each year attracts hundreds of entries. The closing date for nominations was 31 May 2017. The winners will be presented with their awards at the Macular Society’s annual conference on 16 September at the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, London.
