Each year, we bring together macular experts to share the latest research updates and advice on living with sight loss with you at our annual conference.

In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic meant we had to take it online for the first time and were delighted to welcome more people than ever before.

As the situation remains uncertain we have decided that 2021’s conference will also be virtual.

We’re using feedback from those who attended in 2020 to make sure this year’s conference is even better.

The programme will include talks on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), as well as a separate programme for inherited retinal dystrophies. One of the highlights of the AMD sessions will include professor Paulo Stanga talking about what we know about the condition and the research that gives us all hope of beating macular disease for good.

Professor Robert MacLaren will also join us to give an introduction to Stargardt disease, and explain the most
promising future treatments that are in development right now.

Join us on the day and ask questions live, or catch up with one or more talks whenever you like – they’ll be shared online afterwards.

The annual conference will be held on Saturday 11 September, so put the date in your diary.

More details will be shared nearer the time, but in the meantime find out what attendees in 2020 enjoyed about the day at macularsociety.org/conference
