How we raise and spend money

How we raise money

In an ageing population, more and more people are affected by macular disease. It is therefore more important than ever that we raise as much money as possible to fund research into treatments and to find a cure, as well as continuing to provide information and support for those with macular disease.

Our funding comes from three main sources:

  • charitable trusts and the National Lottery
  • membership subscriptions and donations
  • gifts in Wills and donations in memory.

We receive no government funding.

Our fundraising activities include appeals both for research and services; corporate sponsorship; a weekly lottery and raffle; promotion of events such as runs; our popular Tea for MD parties and recycling schemes. We aim to ensure that all our activities are transparent, fair, honest, and legal. More information is available here.

We are extremely grateful to all our wonderful supporters for every donation. Together we can help thousands of people in the UK today to cope with the effects of macular disease.
