Join the Macular Society as a legacy and in memory marketing manager and help us Beat Macular Disease by supporting people who wish to leave a lasting impact, guiding them through legacy gifts and in-memory donations, and helping to grow our vital fundraising community.

About the Macular Society

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. We're the only UK charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease through:

About the role

We're looking for an experienced fundraising or marketing professional or consultant with a proven track record legacy and in memory campaigns. You will develop and implement campaigns that create awareness, inspire action, and ultimately help secure future legacy and in memory gifts for the Macular Society.

You’ll be familiar with and comfortable analysing data and insights to inform your approach and decision making towards legacy and in memory marketing, ensuring these activities are well-targeted and effective, across a range of channels. Once gifts are secured, you’ll be passionate about providing the best possible supporter experience, understanding motivations and reflecting them in a way that brings people closer to the cause and encouraging future support.

Leading a team of two experienced Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Officers, you’ll support this talent by providing opportunities for learning and development.

Flexible working

This role can either be part-time (minimum of 30 hours per week) or full-time, and can either be office or home-based, or a mix of the two. The only thing we do ask is that you visit the Andover office in Hampshire on a monthly or two-monthly basis, as we feel it’s important that the team all come together regularly in person.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in fundraising or marketing, ideally in legacies, in-memory giving, or individual giving
  • Experience planning and delivering campaigns and projects on time and on budget, using data and insights to inform decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking, copywriting, and building strong relationships with donors and partners
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a team
  • Committed to equality, diversity, inclusion, and providing the best supporter experience with empathy and professionalism
  • Ambitious, collaborative, and integrity-driven, ready to Make Things Happen and put those we support first
